Our Story

“This is the plan determined for the whole world; this is the hand stretched out over all nations. “ – Isaiah 14:26

In September of 2007, my family and I relocated to a small rural town in North Carolina. We imagined we would live a quiet existence in the country.
God provided a home so we could experience His blessing through our neighbors, the wonderful Wickham family.

It did not take long for us to discover that Julie Wickham was fighting stage four colon cancer. God permitted special time for us to grow with Julie and her beautiful family.
The Lord graciously called Julie home on January 1, 2008. Julie's words before her passing changed my outlook on faith. She said, "If one person comes to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, then dying from cancer will be all worth it."  Thus began the creation of The Dandelion Project.

God revealed in so many ways, that this would be a life long journey for me. I had to continue to be an advocate for Julie’s passion.
Her passion was to bring the Word of God to people who have never heard the name Jesus Christ.

The Dandelion Project was created as a memorial to Julie. The project was blessed with this name because of the Dandelion’s transformation.

We humans are as mere Dandelions. We can be bright; we can catch the corner of another’s eye. When we get to the core of us, the root, we are but surviving weeds.
When we come to God in repentance and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, He washes us white with His cleansing blood. All of our sins are now forgiven.

The Dandelion has a transformation as well…turning from yellow to white, and then the final step in the life of this weed. As the winds blow, it disperses new seeds far and wide. We are certain that through The Dandelion Project, God’s word (the seed) will be dispersed to countries all over the world. The people, who have yet to hear, will be blessed with a Bible in their own language.

Wycliffe Bible Translators will be blessed with the proceeds from our benefit concerts. It is our prayer that others join in our ministry to administer God’s word to the rest of the world.

Then the LORD said: "I am making a covenant with you. Before all your people I will do wonders never before done in any nation in all the world. The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the LORD, will do for you.” – Exodus 34:10
